What a weekend!

Friday we went to the zoo with our aunt and cousins. It was tons of fun and we saw a bird show, which was amazing! We got done at the zoo after having fun and went to a nearby park to have lunch where the kids continued to have even more fun.

We got home from that and were very tired, but had things to do for the reunion we had coming up the next day. So we spent a few more hours running around, making sure we had everything we needed for that.

Finally everyone got to bed, and soon enough, we had to wake up to get ready for the reunion.

So, Saturday we had the reunion and as the forecast had predicted, it was rainy, windy, dark clouds and just not fun. We stayed at the park and continued the reunion. The kids didn't seem to mind the rain and were playing in it just about all day.
Sunday, Preston was ordained a priest, and it was a very special and memorable occasion. My grandfather was who Preston chose to ordain him, because he had challenged Preston 7 years ago to be ready to baptize Jarod by the time Jarod was ready. Preston is a tad bit late, but he will still be baptizing Jarod in the next little while. Preston had a lot of people there from the ward, from our family and he even had his brother there. (Thank you Trav and Kim!) He needed that support from his brother.
We did lunch at our very messy house after church and the ordination and it was nice. We then went to my parent's house on the fly because my dad had requested sourdough pancakes and my mom was talking about finishing making them today, and Pres was automatically drawn to the idea of sourdough pancakes. So we asked if we might join, and she said there was plenty to go around.
What fun!
This post is merely a summary of what has happened this weekend, but all of it, even the rain, has been great!!!

Grrr!!! The weather, GRRRR!!!! Ok. So I have scheduled the very first Dagsen Reunion for this Saturday and it is looking to be stormy. There is a pavilion and that, but man, who wants to be out in the rain all day? Not many. Grrr! Rain, Rain, Go AWAY!!!

Here's the Man of the hour at our house. This Sunday (Father's Day 2009) He''ll be ordained to the office of priest in the Aaronic priesthood. Yay! He is overjoyed and has been spiritually moved about the whole growing process he's going through. After setting up the ordination for Sunday, I realized that his parents are out of state and mentioned it to him and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "It's not really something they are interested in and I am not going to wait til they get back from Washington." Wow! What a powerful statement! He will have his bro Travis there in the circle and extended family supporting him still, and I know for a fact that his (late) Grandma Dagsen is extremely pleased with him.

I am amazed to see the transformation over the last 10 years, and am pretty sure there will be a huge transformation in him and our home as the year progresses. I am pleased with him.

Anyone wishing to come and able to come let me know and I can give you stats. I will warn you though. A baptism will follow shortly. Jarod has been waiting for his dad to get the priesthood so he can baptise him. Details to come on that as well.

Yay!!!

These bison were really close. They were even closer than these pictures depict. I got a call so couldn't use my camera phone when the bison were crossing the road within about 7 feet in front of my van. Awesome!!!

We went on an adventure yesterday while Preston was at work. So who took the picture? I don't know, just some very kind lady who was trekking the trail right behind us. As you can tell, I have Shiryauna, but didn't even think to bring the baby backpack. Now I know for next time. This is up on Buffalo Point, for anyone wondering. The boys were loving the hike, so we will definitely be going more often!

William is saying I love you. Now I feel warm and fuzzy inside...
Elijah really likes this hat. It was in our Tour yardsale we held, but never sold, so here he is playing with it. It actually was my dad's hat, but I'm not sure of the history behind it.

Jarod, William and I had our faces painted. William got the same as Jarod, but a blue "dragon." Mine was nothing so fancy, but was "Tim," the person that Team Grover rode in memory of.

I have about a million pictures of her in her blessing dress. For some reason I can't decide on just one. This one is just cute.

Tour de Cure

We went to the 2009 ADA Tour de Cure for diabetes yesterday and waited for family members to complete the ride. It was amazing to see faces of people who were finishing the ride. There was a huge sense of not only accomplishment, but meaning for accomplishment. There were people of many ages riding different length courses. Boys and Girls about 10 years old were riding through the finish line and somehow they even knew the importance of what they were doing. One boy in particular had crossed the finish line and was smiling from ear to ear and saying "Yes! I did it!" as he crossed. There were Red Riders there who are riders who already have been diagnosed with diabetes. There were older generation Red Riders, some that were middle aged, and some that were probably just coming into adulthood.
All in all, it was a great ride for many and many accomplished goals they had set out to accomplish.
I challenge you to set goals, and accomplish them, for whatever reason you need or want to set those goals, set them, and make an effort daily to accomplish them. The reward of accomplishing it far outweigh the pangs of determination that it takes to get it accomplished.
That's all for today.
Happy Flag Day everyone!

Good Morning!

Here I am being a dork and finally starting our family's blog. So, now that I have it set up, let's see how often I get to it.
Now with that said, I shall go and get ready for the day, get to the gym and work my butt off!!!
Oh! The sun is out finally! Let's see how long it lasts, eh?
