The Jewel Table's beginning

I realized that there may be some confusion as to why I have the name The Jewel Table mentioned on my blog. So I'll clear that up. In my high school years I didn't like my name, and one of the names I liked was Jewel. I don't remember if it was before, during or after the singer Jewel, but as far as I can remember, there was no connection. So that phase passed, all that time though I had been hand making cards and wrote The Jewel Table on the back of them, or really anything I created. I continued to use The Jewel Table and still use it when I make cards. I was going to name a biz that. I found it quite uncanny that my children's initials along with the initial of our last name, phonetically says Jewel JWEL. After we figured that out we had our girl, whose name starts with S, so we added it to the end of the name to make JWELS. Interesting, eh? Now most of our contact info has JWEL or JWELS in the content. It is pretty awesome! So that my friends is the story of the Jewel Table.

The Beginning? Or the End?

Well, summer has come to an end for many people. The weather this last week has confirmed the feeling for most of us too. It is rainy and cold and the first week of school.
As I feel even more and more crazy all the time, I am finding there are reasons for my choices, and answers to my questions. Jarod and William were going to be homeschooled this year, but I found I had a lot on my plate this year and with the power of prayer and answers (very loud answers) I learned that the boys needed to be in public school. I had felt fairly confident in the idea of homeschooling and was sure I would be doing it, until last Sunday night when the prospect of another duty was piled on top of my already heaping plate. I was at that point, not sure that I was going to be able to handle everything that I had planned to do. So Monday morning I said a prayer and asked what needed to be done, that I have a lot of things to do and needed to know what to do. I'd asked for the answer to be loud and clear, so I could understand it.
I had planned on starting homeschool that Monday morning and so got the kids up and fed and started. I printed assignments out for the kids to work on. Jarod was doing pretty well, he misunderstood a few questions.
William was bouncing off the walls.
Elijah was unusually demanding of my attention. ("hitting" me) "MOM! MOM! SEE THIS?!? MOM LOOK! MOM LOOK AT ME! MOM, LOOK AT THIS! MOM! MOM! MOM!"
Shiryauna is just as demanding and can't talk yet, but is definitely vocal enough to be screaming and whining and crying and fussing.
Well, I was pretty sure that was the answer. They needed to go back to public school.
I found out from a friend and my aunt/teacher that Jarod and William's names were still on the registration for the public school they usually go to.
So I called the public school to let them know to keep them on the registration. Then called the k-12 school and withdrew them from homeschool.
I felt an immense burden lifted.
Wow!
So, as I sit here typing this, Jarod and William are in school for their second day. Elijah is quietly entertaining himself, though he should be eating his pb&j sandwich. Shiryauna is fighting the high chair with her tummy, and probably not eating the sandwich pieces I gave her.
Fun, so here we go, another school year, with homework after school. My schoolwork, my business, my kids and my other motherly duties.
Is this the end or the beginning?

I am enrolled in University of Phoenix!!! I will be schooling online for the Associate of Arts/Health Care Administration-Medical Records Degree!!! I will be doing this course at home, which allows me to be a crazy home-schooling mom as well. On the side, at optional working time, I am on my way to becoming a consultant for an online digital scrapbooking company called Heritage Makers. I love their program and the product just sells itself! ---If interested, let me know. You can sign up for FREE and so far, I have not found any catches! Again, if interested let me know, or go here http://www.heritagemakers.com/index.cfm?CFID=54762&CFTOKEN=42809528

Wendy, at the bottom right is my friend and mentor in this and she is standing in as your consultant (should you join) until I get my consultant site up and going, then you will be transferred under me, so therefore I would be your consultant and help you along the way.
I am done, I am loving all of what is happening right now. I feel crazy, but know that all the paths that I am following, are the paths that I need to be on right now.
Please support me in whatever ways you can.

Dentists are great fun! Last night I had the rest of my root canal finished, ready for the crown. Today William had one pulmodomy or whatever those are called (a child's root canal) and one extraction that had infection under the tooth. He was knocked out by two medicines before the work was started and he fought the medicine going into the "zone" and coming out of the "zone." Talk about one energetic and determined kid.
He realized that something was odd in his mouth. He thought his tooth was loose, but it is merely the spacer that they put in in place of the extracted tooth. He kept trying to wiggle it, so then it would bleed more. Grrr! I need a break!

Sewing, sewing, sewing...I have tons of fabric and happened to get even more fabric from my neighbor to sew Shiry a dress. It is a peach lacy type fabric over an orange fabric to give it a solid peachy look. It has white embroidered flower stripes and is just cute! So I am sewing Shiry a dress out of the fabric. I decided that I am doing a hat too, since the pattern includes a hat as well. Wish me luck! I will post photos once it is done.... hehe, now that should keep me motivated to get it done, promising pics of its completion...
LOL! Mwahaha, TeeHee!

Happy Fourth of July!!!

Today is the day where we celebrate. What is it we celebrate? We all know that it is to celebrate the Nation's Independence gained by the common farmers, blacksmiths, horsemen, and even clergymen by going to war against King George's militia and finally winning and declaring Independence in 1776. What a feat!
The typical American's celebration includes a parade, barbeque, fireworks and time spent with someone they care about. But every day we do things that represent our Independence, our Freedom to choose, our Freedom to speak, our Freedom to do just about anything that is in accordance with the laws governing this country.
Now off my "soap box" if you will.
Enjoy the parties and festivities that come about for an entire Nation once a year.
Happy Freedom Day!

Shiry's birthday is fast approaching. Um, tomorrow to be exact. It seems it has been only a couple months since she was born, yet with the traumatic experience that it was, I am so glad it is in the past. Though it was a year ago, I find that the emotions are still strong. I wrote in my journal and was surprised to find that I had a lot to say about it. I ended up writing a long 3 pages and sobbing the entire time it took to write it. Preston was trying to get to sleep and was probably befuddled as to my instantaneous tears that lasted for longer than usual. I ended up coming out to the couch to finish writing so he could sleep since he worked in the morning.
What a miracle that Shiryauna not only survived, but came out of it a happy and healthy baby.
Now, let's see if I can survive her toddler-hood.

What a weekend!

Friday we went to the zoo with our aunt and cousins. It was tons of fun and we saw a bird show, which was amazing! We got done at the zoo after having fun and went to a nearby park to have lunch where the kids continued to have even more fun.

We got home from that and were very tired, but had things to do for the reunion we had coming up the next day. So we spent a few more hours running around, making sure we had everything we needed for that.

Finally everyone got to bed, and soon enough, we had to wake up to get ready for the reunion.

So, Saturday we had the reunion and as the forecast had predicted, it was rainy, windy, dark clouds and just not fun. We stayed at the park and continued the reunion. The kids didn't seem to mind the rain and were playing in it just about all day.
Sunday, Preston was ordained a priest, and it was a very special and memorable occasion. My grandfather was who Preston chose to ordain him, because he had challenged Preston 7 years ago to be ready to baptize Jarod by the time Jarod was ready. Preston is a tad bit late, but he will still be baptizing Jarod in the next little while. Preston had a lot of people there from the ward, from our family and he even had his brother there. (Thank you Trav and Kim!) He needed that support from his brother.
We did lunch at our very messy house after church and the ordination and it was nice. We then went to my parent's house on the fly because my dad had requested sourdough pancakes and my mom was talking about finishing making them today, and Pres was automatically drawn to the idea of sourdough pancakes. So we asked if we might join, and she said there was plenty to go around.
What fun!
This post is merely a summary of what has happened this weekend, but all of it, even the rain, has been great!!!

Grrr!!! The weather, GRRRR!!!! Ok. So I have scheduled the very first Dagsen Reunion for this Saturday and it is looking to be stormy. There is a pavilion and that, but man, who wants to be out in the rain all day? Not many. Grrr! Rain, Rain, Go AWAY!!!

Here's the Man of the hour at our house. This Sunday (Father's Day 2009) He''ll be ordained to the office of priest in the Aaronic priesthood. Yay! He is overjoyed and has been spiritually moved about the whole growing process he's going through. After setting up the ordination for Sunday, I realized that his parents are out of state and mentioned it to him and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "It's not really something they are interested in and I am not going to wait til they get back from Washington." Wow! What a powerful statement! He will have his bro Travis there in the circle and extended family supporting him still, and I know for a fact that his (late) Grandma Dagsen is extremely pleased with him.

I am amazed to see the transformation over the last 10 years, and am pretty sure there will be a huge transformation in him and our home as the year progresses. I am pleased with him.

Anyone wishing to come and able to come let me know and I can give you stats. I will warn you though. A baptism will follow shortly. Jarod has been waiting for his dad to get the priesthood so he can baptise him. Details to come on that as well.

Yay!!!

These bison were really close. They were even closer than these pictures depict. I got a call so couldn't use my camera phone when the bison were crossing the road within about 7 feet in front of my van. Awesome!!!

We went on an adventure yesterday while Preston was at work. So who took the picture? I don't know, just some very kind lady who was trekking the trail right behind us. As you can tell, I have Shiryauna, but didn't even think to bring the baby backpack. Now I know for next time. This is up on Buffalo Point, for anyone wondering. The boys were loving the hike, so we will definitely be going more often!

William is saying I love you. Now I feel warm and fuzzy inside...
Elijah really likes this hat. It was in our Tour yardsale we held, but never sold, so here he is playing with it. It actually was my dad's hat, but I'm not sure of the history behind it.

Jarod, William and I had our faces painted. William got the same as Jarod, but a blue "dragon." Mine was nothing so fancy, but was "Tim," the person that Team Grover rode in memory of.

I have about a million pictures of her in her blessing dress. For some reason I can't decide on just one. This one is just cute.

Tour de Cure

We went to the 2009 ADA Tour de Cure for diabetes yesterday and waited for family members to complete the ride. It was amazing to see faces of people who were finishing the ride. There was a huge sense of not only accomplishment, but meaning for accomplishment. There were people of many ages riding different length courses. Boys and Girls about 10 years old were riding through the finish line and somehow they even knew the importance of what they were doing. One boy in particular had crossed the finish line and was smiling from ear to ear and saying "Yes! I did it!" as he crossed. There were Red Riders there who are riders who already have been diagnosed with diabetes. There were older generation Red Riders, some that were middle aged, and some that were probably just coming into adulthood.
All in all, it was a great ride for many and many accomplished goals they had set out to accomplish.
I challenge you to set goals, and accomplish them, for whatever reason you need or want to set those goals, set them, and make an effort daily to accomplish them. The reward of accomplishing it far outweigh the pangs of determination that it takes to get it accomplished.
That's all for today.
Happy Flag Day everyone!

Good Morning!

Here I am being a dork and finally starting our family's blog. So, now that I have it set up, let's see how often I get to it.
Now with that said, I shall go and get ready for the day, get to the gym and work my butt off!!!
Oh! The sun is out finally! Let's see how long it lasts, eh?
